Hiuen Tsang, in his travel account, mentions the Allahabad Conference, also known as Prayag, which was one of the regular gatherings convened by Harsha every five years. These conferences were renowned for their grandeur and Harsha's lavish display of charity.
During the Allahabad Conference, Harsha generously distributed his immense wealth as gifts to the members of all religious sects. According to Hiuen Tsang, Harsha's generosity extended to such an extent that he emptied his treasury and even gave away the clothes and jewels he was wearing. While this account might be embellished with some exaggeration, it undoubtedly highlights Harsha's commitment to religious philanthropy and his desire to foster harmony among different faiths.
The Allahabad Conference, like the Kanauj Assembly, showcased Harsha's dedication to religious tolerance and his belief in the importance of supporting all spiritual paths. These gatherings served as significant events in his reign, promoting religious harmony and strengthening his reputation as a benevolent and pious ruler.
